What is the MentorSHIP?
The MentorSHIP is an affordable offering to aspiring professionals in the movement field. The mutual goal is to further our crafts as practitioners, teachers, trainers and therapists. The project is a yearly undertaking with monthly group calls and yearly gatherings in person. We cover different topics such as practice philosophy, periodisation, programming, learning, teaching, business, and many more. The MentorSHIP is a collaboration project from Wil Brown of Figuring Things Out and Simeon Hauberg of Intent in Practice.
Why do we do this?
I never really saw myself fitting into a traditional workspace. The idea of trading my time for money just to enjoy what little is left of my free time after a 40+ hour week never felt quite right.
I want the freedom to work at my own pace, to focus on projects that genuinely excite me, and to take on the responsibility that comes with being a solopreneur.
I believe that is a meaningful pursuit. I don’t want to sacrifice the chance to live fully and responsibly in exchange for security.
That’s why, as self-employed professionals who naturally found ourselves working with aspiring teachers in a coaching capacity, Wil and I decided to flatten the hierarchy and offer the MentorSHIP to others who want to follow a similar path.
How does it work exactly?
The MentorSHIP operates on a quarterly schedule, delving into four distinct topics each year, with each topic explored over a span of three months. The program includes monthly group calls and lectures and practical homework assignments to help you apply and experience the concepts firsthand. You also have the option to book additional one-on-one sessions as necessary. Once or twice a year a live workshop will be hosted to further deepen our work and grow as a community. Active participation and contribution from everyone are essential to the MentorSHIP's success. We believe that engaging with and reflecting on the material from multiple perspectives is crucial for genuine learning. On this Ship, you are not just a passenger but a vital member of the crew.
